Russia’s Large-Scale Attack on Ukraine

In the early hours of July 6, Russia launched a massive assault on Ukraine, targeting Kyiv and its surrounding region. The attack left 22 people dead and close to 90 wounded. The enemy deployed 68 missiles and over 350 attack drones of various types. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted all six of the caliber types used. Out of 33 cruise missiles, 31 were destroyed, and 92% of the Shahed drones were shot down.

The most critical situation unfolded in Vyshneve, near Kyiv, where there remains a risk of secondary detonations. Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers will allocate funds from its reserve budget to help the Vyshneve community manage the aftermath.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated: 'Once again, Putin has targeted ordinary residential buildings.'

He also emphasized that 'Siberia is now within reach of Ukrainian precision' and urged Moscow to accept that 'peace is a blessing, not a catastrophe.'

Ukraine’s Long-Range Strikes on Russia’s Oil Economy

In parallel, Ukraine is intensifying long-range strikes against Russia’s oil-based economy. Attacks targeted oil facilities inside Russia, including an oil refinery in Omsk—nearly 2,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border—as well as a refinery in Yaroslavl. These actions demonstrate that Ukrainian forces can hit strategic targets at great distances.

This assault occurred on the 1,594th day of the war. Zelenskyy expressed hope that the summit of the strongest Euro-Atlantic nations in Ankara would not prove hollow, signaling potential continued support for Ukraine amid ongoing aggression.

The event highlights the persistent tension in Ukraine-Russia relations and the growing threat to civilians in Ukraine. Meanwhile, the escalation of Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil infrastructure reflects a strategy to deliver long-range blows that could undermine Russia’s economic capabilities. International reaction to these developments remains crucial, especially with upcoming high-level diplomatic engagements.

As the situation intensifies, Ukraine's counteroffensive strategies are becoming increasingly bold. Recent operations have targeted Russian oil facilities, including significant strikes on refineries in Ufa and a fuel depot, showcasing Ukraine's capability to reach deep into enemy territory.
