Appeal from Vyacheslav Zinchenko's Mother
Olena Zinchenko, the mother of Vyacheslav Zinchenko—who is accused of murdering linguist Iryna Farion—has appealed to Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets regarding her son's detention conditions. Vyacheslav Zinchenko is now on a hunger strike, which has entered its fifth day, and he is also refusing water.
Olena Zinchenko reported that her son's health is deteriorating due to the prolonged strike. She stated:
“Yesterday he said he wasn't feeling well, as it's already the fifth day he has been on a hunger strike without water. I initially thought he was drinking water because he asked for it to be delivered. Yesterday he said he hadn't drunk a single drop.”
Vyacheslav's mother also expressed concern about his access to medical care if needed:
“I called the Human Rights Commissioner, Dmytro Lubinets—I asked for help. Because you cannot dry hunger strike for long. He has never done a hunger strike before.”
