The mother of the American suspect in the murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska does not support the release of her son from prison. Michelle DeVitt claims that Dekarlos Brown suffers from schizophrenia and his mental health is rapidly deteriorating.

She tried to seek help and arrange for him to be placed in a homeless shelter, but she was refused. A psychiatric facility also could not take the boy under care, as she is not his legal guardian.

'He told me that someone is 'removing a chip from his brain' that controlled his actions, and that he will soon be free again.'

34-year-old Dekarlos Brown was arrested after attacking a Ukrainian refugee, which led to her death. He has been charged with first-degree murder, and the motive for the crime is currently unknown.

In investigating the murder case of the Ukrainian refugee, it is important to consider the mental state of the suspect, who, according to his mother, has schizophrenia. An immediate psychiatric assessment may influence the further course of the trial and the determination of responsibility in this tragic event.
