Updated Electronic License Registry
Medical institutions and individual entrepreneurs (sole proprietors) in Ukraine can now apply for their initial license entirely online, thanks to a revamped electronic Medical Practice License Registry. The fully digital process requires submitting an application through the registry website using a qualified electronic signature.
This new option is available to healthcare facilities and private entrepreneurs who are preparing to take this step. Applicants must have a valid qualified electronic signature (QES) from their director or authorized representative. The registry upgrade streamlines the procedure by eliminating queues and paperwork. Submitting an application is now intuitive and takes just a few clicks. Users can track the status of their submission in real time through their personal account.
Services for Current License Holders
For existing licensees, services such as expanding activities, making changes, suspending, or terminating a license are currently accessible through both paper-based and electronic submission tools directed to the licensing authority. Development of the electronic License Registry is ongoing, and new digital features for current license holders will be introduced in subsequent phases.
The introduction of online licensing in the medical field marks a significant step toward digitizing government services in Ukraine. It not only simplifies the licensing process but also reduces the administrative burden on healthcare providers—a critical improvement given the current challenges in the healthcare sector. Future updates to the registry are expected to expand functionality for existing licensees, further enhancing the operational efficiency of medical facilities.
As the healthcare sector in Ukraine embraces digital transformation, the recent updates to the licensing process complement other advancements, such as the streamlined access to e-prescriptions and sick leave certificates. These improvements not only enhance the efficiency of medical services but also aim to simplify the overall experience for both healthcare providers and patients.
