The Government of Ukraine has supported the draft of the new Customs Code, which is an important step towards the country's Euro-integration in the customs sector. The draft is based on EU legislation and has been submitted for evaluation to the European Commission. To engage the public in discussing the draft, the Ministry of Finance has been tasked with creating a working group of public representatives. After the evaluation by the European Commission, it is planned to refine the draft in cooperation with the working group and EU experts.
The main goal of creating the new Customs Code is the harmonization of customs legislation, which will significantly simplify and speed up trade with EU countries. This will also help businesses reduce costs, optimize supply chains, and avoid different approaches in the application of customs procedures.
According to the State Customs Service, Ukraine has currently fulfilled 91% of its customs obligations under the Association Agreement with the EU, which has been recognized by other international organizations and businesses.
