Metinvest Bolsters Ukrainian Forces with New Fleet

As part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front initiative, Metinvest has supplied 13 high-mobility pickup trucks to military units operating on the Zaporizhzhia front. The company allocated 16.5 million hryvnias to purchase this batch of vehicles. The handover took place in late May, when acting Zaporizhstal general director Taras Shevchenko presented the keys to the all-wheel-drive Peugeot Landtrek pickups to representatives of the receiving units.

Recipient Units

The vehicles were distributed among the following formations:

  • 16th Separate Support Brigade
  • 260th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade "Khortytsia"
  • 1223rd Separate Support Battalion
  • 433rd Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion
  • "Shershni" Unmanned Systems Battalion, 162nd Separate Mechanized Brigade
  • 128th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade "Dyke Pole"

“A vehicle on the front line is a tool for survival and victory. A reliable off-road machine means evacuating the wounded under fire, timely delivery of ammunition, swift unit maneuvers, and rapid withdrawal after completing a mission.”

Taras Shevchenko

Shevchenko emphasized that Metinvest is not just handing over equipment but also enabling defenders to operate more effectively. The army's demand for such vehicles remains constant, and the company strives to meet that need.

A battalion representative named Jim expressed gratitude to Metinvest for its systematic support, noting that “these vehicles are more than just hardware: they allow us to carry out combat missions, rotations, ammunition supply, and casualty evacuation more effectively.” He also highlighted that his battalion has distinguished itself on the Zaporizhzhia front, which is considered one of the hottest sectors in Ukraine's ongoing conflict. Jim thanked all compassionate individuals and responsive businesses that support the Ukrainian army in its fight for the homeland.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to support Ukrainian troops, reflecting the growing role of the private sector in strengthening national defense. Providing equipment that is critical for combat operations underscores the importance of collaboration between businesses and the armed forces. Amid prolonged military aggression, such actions can significantly enhance the effectiveness of frontline units.

In addition to the recent vehicle delivery, Metinvest has also demonstrated its commitment to supporting Ukrainian forces through substantial financial aid. The company's contribution of UAH 12 million to the Azov Brigade exemplifies its ongoing efforts to enhance operational capabilities on the front lines.
