Metinvest Reintegrates 80% of Veterans into the Workforce: Inside Their Unique Support System

Металургійна компанія реалізує спеціальні програми для сприяння поверненню ветеранів до професійного життя.

Metinvest's Comprehensive Veteran Reintegration Ecosystem

Metinvest has rolled out an all-encompassing veteran reintegration ecosystem, underscoring its commitment to supporting returning employees after military service. According to company data, roughly 80% of demobilized staff come back to work post-deployment, highlighting the initiative's effectiveness. Currently, more than 8,000 Metinvest employees are serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and since 2014, around 11,000 specialists have gained military experience. This program is especially relevant as Ukraine faces a prolonged conflict, with many service members transitioning back to civilian life.

Additionally, about 1,000 veterans have already returned to the company. Over 10% of them were not previously employed by Metinvest, showcasing the firm's openness to new talent. This effort not only creates opportunities for veterans but also aids their adjustment to civilian society. As Tetiana Petruk noted,

“a veteran returns not just to a job but to civilian life as a whole”

Types of Support Offered to Veterans

Metinvest provides a range of support options for veterans, including:

  • psychological assistance;
  • professional adaptation;
  • family support;
  • preparing teams to welcome colleagues back after service;
  • creating a safe work environment;
  • counseling and access to social support for military families;
  • retraining opportunities if returning to a previous role is not possible;
  • career path changes;
  • workplace accommodations;
  • flexible employment arrangements.

Recognition of the company's efforts in this area comes from the international Brilliance Awards, where Metinvest won in the Corporate Wellness category. This accolade reflects a high standard of corporate social responsibility and active engagement in veteran support.

Veteran reintegration into the labor market is a critical aspect of corporate social responsibility, especially amid an ongoing war where many soldiers return to civilian life. Initiatives like Metinvest's program can serve as a model for other businesses, demonstrating how companies can actively address social challenges. Supporting veterans not only eases their transition but also enhances corporate culture and public image.

In addition to its veteran reintegration initiatives, Metinvest is also committed to supporting the younger generation through programs like the expansion of the Hibuki therapy program, which aims to enhance the well-being of children in Kryvyi Rih and Kamianske. This holistic approach underscores the company's dedication to community welfare and the importance of mental health support across all age groups.
