Construction of the metro to Vynohradar is being postponed again: trains will not run there in 2026. The head of Kyiv Metro, Viktor Vyhivskyi reported that during this period, only the main structures of the Mostytska station are planned to be completed, as stated by the Telegram channel “Kyiv Passengers”.
Metro to Vynohradar: new timelines and conditions for launch
According to Vyhivskyi, movement towards Vynohradar will be possible only after the commissioning of two stations — Mostytska and Prospect of Truth. The preliminary target is 2027, but final dates depend on financing and the situation in the country.
During a meeting of the Transport Commission of the Kyiv City Council, he explained:
«The Mostytska station will be completed in terms of main structures in 2026. The metro will run when the construction of the two stations is finished. Overall, we plan to complete the works in 2027, but we live in wartime, so financing is a crucial question».
What is known about delays and progress of works
Construction of the branch to Vynohradar has repeatedly been halted due to lack of funds and project adjustments. Martial law has exacerbated these issues — part of the resources have been directed to critical facilities, and contractors are working in difficult conditions.
Among the key factors for delays:
- unstable financing
- changes in project documentation
- priority of other city facilities.
The city maintains plans to complete the new section, but there are currently no official confirmed dates for full launch.
