The International Coalition Calls on Russia: Return Deported Children Immediately

Міжнародна спільнота вимагає повернення дітей, примусово депортованих з України, без зволікань.

Rights of Ukrainian Children

The International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children emphasizes that every child has the right to live in safety with their family in their homeland. This right is inalienable and universal, and must be respected under any circumstances, including armed conflict and occupation.

The aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine has led to deaths, injuries, poverty among Ukrainian children, their forced relocation and deportation. These actions are violations of international humanitarian law. Many children have been deprived of their connection to family, education in their native language, and national identity.

“A child cannot be a trophy of war. Ukrainian children must return home – immediately and unconditionally.”

The International Coalition supports Ukraine in restoring justice and returning home those children who have become victims of forced relocation and deportation. The Russian Federation is required to fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law and to ensure access to international mechanisms for providing assistance to Ukrainian children.

Calls to Action

The co-chairs of the International Coalition - Canada and Ukraine - call for full information regarding all Ukrainian children under Russian control, support for effective international mechanisms for the search and return of children, holding accountable those involved, and providing support for rehabilitation programs.

The international community has played and continues to play an important role in supporting Ukraine on this issue. There is a call to intensify diplomatic pressure on Russia and ensure the safe return of Ukrainian children home.

The rights of Ukrainian children and the demands for their return home are supported by the international coalition. It is vital to provide comprehensive assistance and focus on Ukrainian children affected by conflict and occupation.
