Migration Service Goes to the Car

Staff from the Migration Service's Department No. 8 in Kryvyi Rih provided a consultation to a foreign citizen with a disability regarding the exchange of her residence permit. The consultation was conducted at her car at her request, as she had arrived using the 'Social Taxi' program. This event is part of implementing Ukraine's National Strategy for creating a barrier-free environment, an initiative that aims to make public services more accessible to all citizens.

In line with the National Strategy for a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine, the Migration Service provides administrative services with accessibility in mind. While the department's entrance is equipped with mobility aids, the elderly woman specifically requested to speak with specialists without leaving her vehicle. A Migration Service employee provided her with comprehensive advice and a full list of documents required to exchange her permanent residence permit.

The Core Goal of the National Strategy

The primary goal of the National Strategy is to establish an unobstructed environment and ensure equal opportunities for exercising rights and accessing services. This approach fosters the social integration of people with disabilities and improves their access to government services.

This initiative highlights the critical importance of adapting state services to meet the needs of citizens with limited mobility, a key aspect of safeguarding their rights. The implementation of a barrier-free space in Ukraine reflects the country's commitment to upholding international human rights standards, a move that will positively impact the social inclusion of people with disabilities.
