Unfinished winter crops sowing campaign in Mykolaiv region

Farmers in Mykolaiv face serious problems due to bad weather during the sowing of winter crops. The director of the agricultural complex department of the region, Olena Piskun, stated that only 70% of the planned work has been completed so far. This time, weather conditions complicated soil preparation and sowing of winter crops for the next year.

Prolonged drought complicated the timely conduct of works in the fields. Currently, only slightly more than 68% of the planned has been sown. The situation improved slightly only at the end of September, when precipitation interrupted the dry period and allowed sowing to continue, albeit with some delays. This season, agricultural producers plan to sow about 650 thousand hectares with winter wheat, barley, rye, and rapeseed.
