Candidates to Replace Milan's Head Coach

Following a poor end to the season, the leadership of Italian football club AC Milan is evaluating potential successors to head coach Massimiliano Allegri. Doubts are growing within the club about Allegri's future, and he may soon be removed from his position. Two Italian managers have emerged as leading contenders: Francesco Farioli and Vincenzo Italiano.

Coaching Prospects

Francesco Farioli, currently in charge of Portuguese side Porto, has led his team to a domestic league title in Portugal. This achievement boosts his chances of landing the job, as Milan is seeking a fresh approach after underwhelming performances in recent matches. Meanwhile, Vincenzo Italiano, who manages Bologna, could also leave his club this summer, making him another serious candidate for the role. Notably, Italiano was already considered for the Milan coaching position last summer, but talks broke down over his demand for a more active role in club management.

Currently, Milan sits in 4th place in the Serie A standings with 67 points, highlighting the team's struggles to achieve better results. Allegri's squad still has two games left this season:

  • Against Genoa, scheduled for May 17
  • Against Cagliari, taking place on May 24

Milan shares 4th place with Roma, who also have 67 points.

As the season draws to a close, the coming days could be decisive for Milan and its coaching staff. The club must decide its next steps, and regardless of the outcome of the final matches, changes in the coaching lineup could significantly impact the team's strategy for next season—especially given the fierce competition in Serie A and the urgent need to improve results.

As Milan navigates through this critical period, the decision regarding Allegri's future remains uncertain. Interestingly, recent reports suggest that Allegri may continue as head coach for the upcoming season, despite the team's struggles. This potential continuity could influence the club's strategy in the transfer market and overall approach to rebuilding for next year.
