Digital Transformation Ministry Upgrades e-Signature Verification
The Ministry of Digital Transformation has released a major update to the electronic signature verification service on its id.gov.ua platform. This upgraded system now complies with current European Union standards, enabling it to automatically recognize both Ukrainian and European Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES). Furthermore, the update introduces the generation of a legally binding electronic report, which includes the official seal of the Qualified Trust Service Provider, Diia. This move is part of Ukraine's broader digitalization efforts to align with EU practices and reduce bureaucratic hurdles.
As the Ministry emphasized, the validation result from this service carries full legal force. The generated report can be used for corporate record-keeping or submitted as evidence to government bodies and courts. Additionally, the previous version of the verification service will remain accessible until June 1, 2026, after which support will be discontinued. The Ministry strongly recommends all users migrate to the new version before this deadline.
Latest Legal and Service Developments
Among other recent innovations, the government has adopted a resolution allowing taxpayers to obtain their tax identification cards via the Diia portal. As part of the signature verification upgrade, users can now visit the id.gov.ua website, upload a signed file, and receive a QES validation result. The Ministry urges users to abandon paper printouts and other outdated methods of confirming signature authenticity, as the new service offers a significantly more convenient and modern approach to electronic signature verification.
The overhaul of the e-signature verification service on id.gov.ua marks a significant step in Ukraine's integration with European standards for digital services. The implementation of new technologies and the streamlining of signature confirmation procedures are expected to bolster trust in electronic documents and lower administrative barriers for businesses. Given the extended support period for the legacy system, users have ample time to adapt to the new requirements.
