The Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, Oleksiy Sobolev, met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Maria Ratnik, to discuss cooperation in implementing economic recovery and green transition.
- During the meeting, they discussed the creation of a National Development Financial Institution;
- Development of an industrial parks network;
- Work of the State Fund for Decarbonization and Energy Efficiency Transformation.
Particular attention was paid to supporting the Zhytomyr region as a focus area for assistance from Estonia.
Cooperation in the Fields of Environment and Digital Technologies
Ukraine and Estonia plan to coordinate cooperation in the areas of water resource management, circular economy, and restoration of degraded ecosystems. They also plan to cooperate in monitoring air quality, using EU directives and LIFE and Horizon Europe programs.
Digital Projects and Preparation for the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2027
The Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture for Digital Development presented key digital projects of the Ministry of Economy. They also discussed further cooperation in ensuring the cybersecurity of critical digital systems. A separate issue at the meeting was the preparation for the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2027, which Estonia plans to host.
'As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working at the level of specialized teams in the areas of economic recovery, environmental protection, digital reforms, and preparation for URC-2027.'
The agreement between the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and representatives of Estonia covers a wide range of issues, from funding projects to joint activities in the fields of environment and digital technologies. Further cooperation promises better conditions for the development of both countries in areas that are becoming increasingly important in today's world.
