Ukrainian State Budget Expenditures for January-February 2026

The Ukrainian Ministry of Finance has released data on cash expenditures from the state budget's general fund for the first two months of 2026. The total cash expenditure reached 547.2 billion hryvnias, which is 9 billion hryvnias (1.7%) higher than the same period last year. This financial reporting occurs against the backdrop of the nation's ongoing defense efforts.

Expenditures specifically for security and defense in January-February 2026 amounted to 327.4 billion hryvnias, constituting 59.8% of the total general fund spending. In February 2026 alone, the state spent 303.4 billion hryvnias. These figures underscore the government's substantial commitment to funding national security and military needs.

Security and Defense Receive Priority Funding

These metrics demonstrate the continued prioritization of security and defense funding in light of the country's current circumstances. The increase in spending compared to the same period last year reflects an adaptation of state expenditures to meet evolving challenges and requirements. Ensuring the effective use of these critical budgetary resources remains a paramount concern for the government and its international partners.
