The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine has consulted with representatives of local self-governments on the interaction between the state and local budgets in 2026.
The meeting highlighted the issue of financing local budgets, as well as outlined key areas for the next year. In particular, an additional subsidy, compensation for heating tariffs, funding for education, and a basic subsidy for local budgets are planned.
'The priority of the state budget for 2026 remains support for the security and defense sector; however, we are also paying close attention to the needs of local self-governance. Strong communities are an important foundation for the resilience of our country. Preliminary calculations of financial resources for local budgets for 2026 have been made considering the projected growth at the level of the indicators of 2025,' stated the First Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine.
The meeting also highlighted issues of interbudgetary relations, financing of education and healthcare, compensation for tariff differences, and support for frontline territories. All proposals from associations of local self-governance will be carefully considered.
The meeting with representatives of local self-governments and the discussion of key aspects of the interaction between the state and local budgets in 2026 testify to the importance of supporting the local level and directing efforts towards improving conditions for the development of areas in the future.
