Maxim Ostapenko's Appointment

The Ukrainian Ministry of Culture has formally appointed Maxim Ostapenko as the Director General of the National Reserve 'Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra'. This move finalizes his tenure, as he had been serving in an acting capacity in the role from April 14 to October 28, 2023.

Ostapenko officially assumed the position on January 15, 2026. The appointment of new leadership for the reserve marks a significant phase in the stewardship of Ukraine's cultural heritage, given that the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is one of the nation's most important historical and cultural sites. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its management is of both national and international significance.

  • Ivan Rudnytsky was dismissed from his post as head of the Volyn Regional State Administration and appointed as a deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine.
