The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomed the decision of the UK government to approve sanctions against the Main Intelligence Directorate of Russia and individuals from the GRU. Ukraine expressed gratitude for this step in countering Russian state-sponsored terrorist activities directed against Ukraine and Europe.
Additionally, the role of the United Kingdom in strengthening global security, putting pressure on the Russian Federation, and combating its crimes, as well as the joint prevention of Russia's accession to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, was recognized as significant.
'Increasing pressure on the aggressor state and assisting Ukraine in strengthening its defense capabilities is an effective tool on the path to restoring peace for Ukraine.'
Ukraine supports the readiness to cooperate with the United Kingdom and other countries to strengthen international security and counter Russian aggression. Only a joint response from the international community can stop Russia's aggressive behavior and hold those responsible accountable.
