DTEK Employees Receive Awards

Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal has honored 36 employees of the DTEK energy company for their work during a heating season described as the most difficult since the full-scale invasion began. This recognition underscores the critical role of energy sector workers in maintaining the stability of the national power grid through an exceptionally challenging period. The Ukrainian energy system has been a repeated target of attacks, making this achievement particularly significant.

Denys Shmyhal noted that the heating season was a severe test for Ukraine's entire energy infrastructure. He emphasized that the professionalism, rapid response, and ability of the energy workers to operate under constant threat were key to ensuring the stable functioning of the system.

“Their work is a contribution to the resilience of the country and the basic living conditions for millions of people” – Denys Shmyhal.

Acknowledgment of Energy Sector Efforts

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously awarded state honors to DTEK energy workers as well. A company representative, Oleksandr Fomenko, stated that the workers demonstrated a high level of responsibility for the outcome. He stressed that all enterprises operated as a single, cohesive system—acting quickly and with a full understanding of the critical nature of their role.

“This work is systemic: we are already preparing for summer peaks and the next winter, strengthening areas where necessary” – Oleksandr Fomenko.

The recognition of DTEK staff, within the context of an extraordinarily difficult heating season, highlights not only their professional readiness but also the vital importance of the energy sector for sustaining the country during wartime. Such support and acknowledgment are crucial for morale and can help drive further efforts to prepare for future challenges, pointing to the ongoing need for a systematic approach to reforming and strengthening Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
