The Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko, along with the Head of the UNICEF Office in Ukraine Munir Mammadzade, visited the Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Palliative Care for Children at the Mykolaiv Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, where they received 127 units of medical equipment as part of the UNICEF Ukraine and Soleterre Foundation project. This project aims to improve the quality and accessibility of rehabilitation services for children.

Minister Lyashko emphasized that ensuring quality rehabilitation for children in all regions of Ukraine is one of the urgent tasks. As part of the National Strategy for creating a barrier-free environment for the population, a separate package of medical rehabilitation for infants has been implemented, and this year alone, more than 76 thousand children have undergone rehabilitation. The network of stationary rehabilitation units for children is also being expanded.

“Our task is to ensure the accessibility of quality rehabilitation services for children in all regions. We are working on this within the framework of the National Strategy for creating a barrier-free environment. The Medical Guarantee Program includes a separate package of medical rehabilitation for infants born prematurely or with pathologies: and only in 2025, more than 21 thousand children under three benefited from these services. In total, this year, more than 76 thousand children of different ages underwent rehabilitation. We are also actively expanding the network of stationary rehabilitation units — currently, there are already over 700 beds for children's rehabilitation. In addition, we are implementing unified approaches to providing assistance.”

Reconstruction of medical facilities in Mykolaiv region

During the visit, the reconstruction of medical facilities in Mykolaiv region was also examined. For example, the Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital for War Veterans is undergoing a major renovation of the third floor to create comfortable rehabilitation conditions for veterans. The surgical building of the Mykolaiv Regional Children's Clinical Hospital is also under reconstruction.

As a result of the working visit of the Minister of Health to Mykolaiv, an inspection of the Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Palliative Care for Children was carried out, where new medical equipment arrived, and regional medical facilities undergoing reconstruction to improve rehabilitation conditions for patients, including war veterans and children, were also visited.
