The Minister of Health visited Zaporizhzhia: how medicine is supported in frontline communities

Visit of officials to medical institutions in Zaporizhzhia

The Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko and the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko visited medical institutions in Zaporizhzhia, checking the implementation of government initiatives to support healthcare in frontline communities. During the visit, emphasis was placed on the financial support of hospitals and the improvement of medical services for the population amidst active combat actions.

From October to December 2025, hospitals in the Zaporizhzhia region received over 70 million UAH in additional funds for payroll. This financing includes:

  • monthly payments of 12,000 UAH for doctors working in areas of active combat;
  • 9,000 UAH for mid-level and junior medical staff.

Primary healthcare facilities also received over 10 million UAH in 2025, aimed at improving medical services in the region.

The National Health Service of Ukraine paid regional medical institutions 4.63 billion UAH for provided medical services. Among the important facilities providing medical assistance is the emergency medical service station in the Khortytsia district of Zaporizhzhia, which supports the work of five emergency medical teams.

Investments in medical infrastructure

Zaporizhzhia Regional Children's Clinical Hospital is receiving significant investments for development. The total cost of constructing a new surgical building is 293 million UAH, of which over 70% of the work has already been completed. At the same time, the oncological dispensary of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Clinical Hospital suffered significant damage in November 2024, highlighting the need for further support of medical institutions in the region.

Additionally, the city emergency and rapid medical assistance hospital is undergoing reconstruction of its treatment facility with a total cost of over 503 million UAH. From 2020 to 2025, medical institutions in the Zaporizhzhia region received modern equipment worth about 477 million UAH, which contributes to improving the quality of medical services. Also, in 2026, the capitation rate for primary healthcare will rise to 1007 UAH, aimed at supporting doctors and ensuring accessibility of medical services for the population.

The visit to medical institutions in Zaporizhzhia marks an important step towards improving medical services in frontline communities, emphasizing the government's commitment to supporting healthcare amidst a challenging security situation.
