Hryhorii Kaletnik Appointed to Lead Vinnytsia National Agrarian University
Ukraine's Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi, has named Hryhorii Kaletnik as the rector of Vinnytsia National Agrarian University (VNAU) through a ministerial decree. Career and Background of Hryhorii Kaletnik
Born on May 2, 1949, in the village of Klymbivka, Yampil district, Vinnytsia region, Hryhorii Kaletnik is an accomplished academic and public figure. He graduated from the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy in 1971 and later earned a diploma from the Ukrainian State University of Food Technologies in 1998. His academic credentials include being a Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, a Professor, and a Doctor of Economic Sciences.
Kaletnik's extensive career includes the following significant positions:
- Chief Engineer of the Kalinin Collective Farm (1971-1973)
- Chief Engineer-Mechanic for the Yampil District Agricultural Department (1973-1975)
- Head of the Yampil District Agricultural Machinery Association (1975-1979)
- Chairman of the Ilyich Collective Farm (1979-1992)
- Representative of the President of Ukraine in Yampil District (1992-1994)
- General Director of the Vinnytsia Scientific and Production Association "Elita" (1994-1996)
- General Director of the Vinnytsia Regional State Association of Alcohol and Liquor-Vodka Industry (1996-1998)
- Chairman of the Vinnytsia Regional Council (1998-2002)
- People's Deputy of Ukraine of the IV Convocation (2002-2004)
- People's Deputy of Ukraine of the V Convocation (2006-2007)
In academia, Kaletnik became acting rector of Vinnytsia State Agrarian University in July 2009 and was elected rector of VNAU in March 2010. During his tenure as rector, he also served as a People's Deputy of Ukraine in the VI Convocation (March–December 2010) and the VII Convocation (December 2012–November 2014). On March 26, 2013, he was elected President of Vinnytsia National Agrarian University.
His career includes some controversial aspects, notably his vote in favor of the so-called 'dictatorship laws' on January 16, 2014. The next rectorial election at VNAU is scheduled for December 9, 2025.
