Rescue of the girls under the ice
Poland's Minister of Foreign Affairs Radoslaw Sikorski thanked Ukrainian Oleksandr Bolotov for saving two girls who fell through the ice in Bydgoszcz. This incident became a bright example of bravery and solidarity between nations in the face of threats that arise in the modern world.
The incident occurred at the Bydgoszcz Canal, where two nine-year-old sisters were playing on the ice. Unfortunately, the ice could not support their weight, and the children found themselves in the water. Oleksandr Bolotov, originally from Slavyansk in the Donetsk region, was the one who did not stand aside. He had previously worked as a policeman and is now a driver living in Poland. Using a long branch, Oleksandr was able to save the children and pull them out of a dangerous situation.
“As a resident of Bydgoszcz, I thank Mr. Oleksandr. We will not allow Russian propaganda to undermine Polish-Ukrainian solidarity against the enemy that threatens both of our nations.”
Radoslaw Sikorski
The importance of international solidarity
This case highlights the importance of mutual assistance and support between Ukrainians and Poles, especially in conditions where almost a million Ukrainians work in Poland.
“Together. Without unnecessary words - they just work together when it is needed.”
Andriy Sybiga
This event was a vivid confirmation of how important it is to support one another in difficult circumstances, demonstrating the true values of humanity and solidarity.
This case not only demonstrated Oleksandr Bolotov's personal courage but also highlighted the importance of international solidarity in the face of modern challenges. Mutual assistance between Ukrainians and Poles, especially in the context of the current political situation, is an important factor that contributes to strengthening ties between the two nations. Joint actions in critical situations can serve as a foundation for further development of friendly relations and support at all levels.
