Andrii Sibiha's Diplomatic Mission to Latin America

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sibiha has concluded a diplomatic tour of Latin America, holding a series of bilateral meetings with officials from multiple nations. The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing trade, coordinating peace efforts, and expanding humanitarian cooperation. A notable moment of the trip was Minister Sibiha presenting a state award to Chilean Senator Rojo Edwards.

During his visit, Sibiha met with Ecuador's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, Gabriela Sommerfeld. He also held talks with Guatemala's First Lady, Lucrecia Peinado, on the sidelines of the Chilean President's inauguration. It is worth noting that First Lady Peinado had previously visited Ukraine in 2024 to participate in the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen.

Key Meetings During the Tour

Among the significant engagements were:

  • negotiations with El Salvador's Vice President, Félix Ulloa;
  • discussions on Middle Eastern developments with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau;
  • cooperation talks with Bolivia's Foreign Minister, Fernando Aramayo;
  • a meeting with France's Delegate Minister for Francophonie, International Partnerships, and French Nationals Abroad.

A key event was the presentation by Andrii Sibiha of the Order of Merit, Third Class, to Chilean Senator Rojo Edwards. This state decoration was conferred by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The tour concluded with talks on bilateral relations with Brazil's Foreign Minister, Mauro Vieira.

This diplomatic mission underscores Ukraine's ongoing efforts to bolster its international alliances and foster collaboration with nations across Latin America. The outreach is part of a broader strategy to secure global support amid ongoing challenges.

Minister Sibiha's tour represents a significant step for Ukraine in deepening bilateral ties and expanding economic cooperation with the region. In the face of global pressures, such active diplomacy is crucial for garnering international backing for Ukraine's peace initiatives and humanitarian projects.
