Sibiha named the priorities of Ukrainian diplomacy for 2026: EU membership and security guarantees

Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha held a meeting with the heads of Ukraine's diplomatic missions abroad. He noted that in 2026, the diplomatic team will focus on protecting national interests, supporting the military, and adhering to international law and the UN Charter. They will also continue to push for EU membership and ensure consular protection for Ukrainian citizens abroad.



Diplomatic work for the coming year


During an online meeting with the heads of foreign diplomatic missions, key tasks for the coming year were discussed, as outlined by the President during the celebration of Diplomatic Service Workers' Day. Diplomats will continue to advocate for the country's interests and strengthen the army in the spirit of just peace based on international law and the UN Charter.


Among the important priorities remain ensuring security, developing the defense industry, strengthening sanctions pressure against the aggressor, moving closer to EU membership, and assisting the country's economy. The necessity of enhancing air defense was also emphasized, as well as gratitude to the diplomats for their dedication and patriotism.
