Zelensky visited Ireland for the first time: what was agreed with the new minister

Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga held a meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Defence of Ireland, Helen McEntee. The meeting announced the launching of an annual strategic dialogue between Ukraine and Ireland at the level of foreign ministers.


This new cooperation mechanism aims to improve the relations between the two countries and deepen their partnership. The next meeting will take place in 2026 in Kyiv.


'Today is a historic day for Ukrainian-Irish partnership. The first official visit of President Volodymyr Zelensky to Ireland, my first meeting with the newly appointed colleague Helen McEntee, and our first strategic dialogue meeting at the level of foreign ministers.' - said Andriy Sybiga.

Minister Sybiga thanked Minister McEntee for supporting Ukraine and protecting Ukrainian citizens who have left their country due to the war. They also discussed the situation on the battlefield and the massive attacks by Russia against Ukraine.


The parties also discussed the recent negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations in Florida and support in holding accountable for Russian crimes.


'I confirmed Ukraine's determination to deepen our partnership with Ireland and strengthen our joint contribution to peace and security in a strong and united Europe.' - added Minister Sybiga.


The meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Ireland concluded with the announcement of an annual strategic dialogue at the ministerial level aimed at improving relations and cooperation between the countries, as well as strengthening security and peace in Europe.
