Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha urged to intensify sanctions against Russia due to its economic problems. According to him, the Russian budget is in deficit, and it is time to make the price of continuing the war unbearable for the Kremlin.
He noted that the Russian economy faces serious issues, including recession, despite efforts to mitigate the impact of sanctions. Russia's energy revenues are decreasing, and the federal budget deficit is rapidly increasing.
“There is a real chance that the economic pressure will become unbearable for Putin. The G7, the EU, and the USA have many tools of influence at their disposal. Russia needs to be deprived of access to technologies and further sanctions should reduce energy revenues,” Sybiha added.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister called for the start of intensifying sanctions pressure on Russia within the framework of international cooperation to make Russia feel the kind of pressure that would drive it to change its policy and actions.
