Ivica Dacic Hospitalized with Severe Pneumonia

Serbia's Interior Minister, Ivica Dacic, has been urgently hospitalized and is in a critical condition due to severe pneumonia. He was rushed to the pulmonology clinic of the Clinical Center of Serbia after a sudden deterioration in his health and is currently on a ventilator. The next 72 hours are considered decisive for his survival. Dacic has been managing diabetes and other chronic health issues for several years, which complicates his current situation.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic visited Ivica Dacic on February 26 before departing for Kazakhstan. According to the president, doctors reported a slight improvement in the patient's condition.

"I believe in him, and now I am leaving for Kazakhstan to achieve great results for our Serbia," — Aleksandar Vucic.

Two Suspects Detained for Alleged Plot Against State

In a separate development, two individuals have been detained in Serbia on suspicion of preparing a crime against the constitutional order and state security. The detainees, residents of Kraljevo born in 1975 and 1983, are suspected of planning the violent overthrow of Serbia's constitutional order and its highest state bodies between December 2025 and February 2026. This arrest highlights ongoing security concerns within the country.

"the ventilator is buying us the necessary time for the medication to take effect and for us to fight for his life," — Spasoje Popovic.
Ivica Dacic's condition remains under close medical supervision.

The hospitalization of Ivica Dacic, a key figure in the Serbian government, has caused significant concern within the country's political circles. His critical health status, combined with his pre-existing conditions, introduces an element of uncertainty into the nation's political landscape. The simultaneous announcement of arrests related to an alleged plot against the state further underscores the importance of institutional stability during this period of heightened tension.
