Ukraine’s Defense Ministry Registers 1,678 New Weapon Systems, Over 90% Made Domestically

Міністерство оборони України зафіксувало 1,678 нових озброєнь, серед яких понад 90% виготовлено в Україні.

Rapid Expansion of Weapon System Registration in Ukraine

Since the start of 2026, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has officially registered and approved 1,678 new types of weaponry and military equipment for active use. Impressively, 1,530 of these—amounting to 91.2%—were produced by Ukrainian manufacturers. This surge in domestic weapon system registration reflects the growing significance of Ukraine’s defense industry in response to ongoing military challenges.

To put this growth into perspective, only 60 Ukrainian-made weapon systems were authorized in 2022. By 2026, that figure skyrocketed to 1,530, representing a 25.5-fold increase compared to 2022. The annual progression of registered systems highlights a steep upward trend:

  • 2022: 110 total systems (60 Ukrainian-made);
  • 2023: 480 total systems (295 Ukrainian-made);
  • 2024: 1,409 total systems (1,051 Ukrainian-made);
  • 2025: 2,050 total systems (1,427 Ukrainian-made);
  • 2026 (as of September 25): 1,678 total systems (1,530 Ukrainian-made).

Key Roles of Newly Registered Weaponry

Since the full-scale invasion began, the proportion of domestically produced weapons and military gear has increased by 67.3%. By September 22, 2026, the Ministry of Defense had codified 650 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems, most of which are also Ukrainian-made. Additionally, 50 new robotic systems have been registered since the beginning of this year.

These new weapon systems serve critical roles including:

  • neutralizing enemy forces,
  • conducting reconnaissance missions,
  • protecting personnel,
  • supporting logistics operations.

The Ministry is actively tailoring weapon designs and military technology to meet evolving battlefield demands, incorporating frontline feedback. These efforts are vital for enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities amid current security challenges.

The increasing number of registered weapon systems in Ukraine marks significant advancements in the country’s defense industry, especially under the pressures of wartime conditions.

As Ukraine continues to bolster its defense capabilities with a remarkable increase in domestically manufactured weaponry, the Ministry of Defense is also exploring innovative solutions for modern warfare. Recently, they conducted the first trials of remote-controlled buggies designed for the armed forces. This initiative underscores the commitment to integrating advanced technology into military operations, enhancing tactical advantages on the battlefield.
