The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has changed the list of diseases that affect military service suitability. Military ombudsman Olga Reshetilova noted that due to the shortage of servicemen, health criteria have become less strict.
According to Reshetilova, the medical commission only assesses the external state of health and, in the absence of visible signs of disease, assigns a person military suitability without taking into account possible combinations of diseases. She also emphasized that the war leads to deterioration of the health of military personnel due to physical and psychological stress.
According to official data, changes are already in progress. But I cannot specify the exact stage of their implementation. I know that the health department of the Ministry of Defense was preparing to remove certain diseases from the list that affects suitability,
the ombudsman explained.
The ombudsman also drew special attention to the issue of serving draft notices to reservists, some of whom may leave military units voluntarily due to low motivation or fear for their own lives. It is important to adhere to legal norms and citizens' rights in this process, she emphasized.
