The Ministry of Social Policy and the European Development Bank Scale Up Projects for IDPs

Міністерство соціальної політики разом із Європейським банком розвитку реалізує нові ініціативи для підтримки внутрішньо переміщених осіб.

Today, November 26, the Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, Tetiana Kiriienko, held a meeting with the Director of Lending and Social Development of the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), Cristian Tabacaru. The discussion focused on expanding joint projects in the field of support for the population affected by the war.

Tetiana Kiriienko expressed gratitude for the payment of the second tranche of 100 million euros under the project "Support for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Ukraine." The total budget of the project is 200 million euros aimed at strengthening state support for IDPs and their integration into the communities that host them.

Support for Communities Hosting IDPs

The Deputy Minister emphasized that communities hosting IDPs need increased support, thus the state requires long-term and flexible support mechanisms from the CEB. Discussions highlighted that systemic assistance to IDPs includes various aspects from payments and housing programs to social services and new initiatives.

During the meeting, the creation of new joint projects that meet the needs of communities was discussed to ensure sustainable and effective support for the population affected by the war.

Expanding cooperation between the Ministry of Social Policy and the Council of Europe Development Bank is a step towards improving the living conditions of internally displaced persons in Ukraine and their integration into host communities. This also demonstrates the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the social issues in the country.
