On December 18, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine between First Deputy Minister Lyudmyla Shemelinets and UNFPA Representative in Ukraine Jacqueline Mahon, where they discussed the implementation of the Demographic Strategy and joint initiatives.
Lyudmyla Shemelinets expressed gratitude to UNFPA for their support and emphasized the importance of restoring the demographic potential for economic stability and sustainable development in Ukraine. The state is already taking measures to support young families and plans new initiatives in this direction.
Particular attention was paid to the development of mother and child centers, support for parenthood and professional activities, housing issues, as well as the health of parents and interventions to reintegrate women into the labor market after maternity leave.
After the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness for further cooperation and coordination of actions, particularly in analytical and expert support from UNFPA.
In summary, the implementation of the Demographic Strategy and plans for joint activities to support young families and strengthen the demographic potential of Ukraine were discussed at the Ministry of Social Policy.
