Trump proposes a peace deal: why Ukraine insists on a ceasefire first

Ukraine seeks to consolidate the line of fire and stop hostilities before considering the possibility of a peace deal. President Zelensky presented an alternative course of action in case of failure at the trilateral meeting or lack of results, namely demanding stronger sanctions against Russia.
