Trump's Peace Plan in Action: What Ukraine, Russia, and the USA Are Discussing in Abu Dhabi

Negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine, Russia, and the USA regarding a peaceful settlement are ongoing in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi. According to reports, the central point of the discussions is the so-called 'Trump peace plan' or 'Ankorizh plus'. The Russian side claims that the process is focused on one issue – the withdrawal of Ukraine's armed forces from Donbas. The Ukrainian delegation includes both military and civilian representatives, while the Russian side is described as purely military.

Key Issues of the Negotiations

The next meeting of the trilateral group is scheduled for February 1. Seven unresolved issues are to be addressed at it. Political analyst Ruslan Bezyayev, commenting on the process, noted:

“February 1, as we know, is the date of another meeting of the trilateral group, which includes Ukraine, Russia, and the United States, at which seven questions that remain unresolved should be discussed. The first question is... Donbas. The second question is the status of this territory of Donbas.” - Ruslan Bezyayev

Among other key blocks of the plan under discussion are the conditions for demilitarization, restrictions for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO, as well as large-scale economic aspects, including:

  • Port management
  • Gas transport system
