Ukraine's Peace Plan in Geneva: Which Points Remain Unresolved

Обговорення мирного плану України в Женеві: які питання все ще потребують вирішення.

Negotiations in Geneva

The negotiations between the American and Ukrainian delegations in Geneva regarding the peace plan concluded with minor discrepancies. Most of the 28 points of the plan have already been agreed upon, but there are still some issues that require further elaboration. In particular, after reducing the number of remaining points, it amounted to 19.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff presented a plan developed taking into account the positions of both sides of the conflict. Caroline Levitt announced the results of the negotiations, stating that only 'a few discrepancies remain'. She emphasized that the president wants the agreement to be reached and the war to end as soon as possible.

Levitt added that it is worth noting that the funding for the arms program is provided exclusively by other Western countries. At the same time, ISW analysts explicitly state that Russia will only accept a variant that is 'equivalent to Ukrainian capitulation'.

The Importance of the Peace Plan

This peace plan is an important step towards resolving the conflict; however, further negotiations may prove decisive for reaching a final agreement.

The negotiations in Geneva demonstrate the activation of international efforts to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The success of the negotiations depends on both sides' ability to find a compromise, considering the harsh positions held by Russia. Key issues remain unresolved, which could significantly influence the further course of events and stability in the region.
