Challenges at Regional Recruitment Centers
Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov is addressing issues at regional recruitment centers, with a specific focus on improving military motivation by expanding contract service. The scale of the challenge is significant: approximately 2 million Ukrainians are currently sought by these centers for mobilization, while an estimated 200,000 individuals have left their military units without authorization. Call for Systemic Reform
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has emphasized the need for systemic solutions within the Ministry of Defense. He stressed that far more extensive changes to the mobilization process are required, changes that would guarantee greater opportunities for both Ukraine's defense and security forces and the nation's economic processes.
Commenting on the situation, Yulia Svyrydenko noted that the current state of affairs is having a negative effect on conscription, further underlining the urgent need to consider new approaches to mobilization.
Consequently, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is taking steps to resolve the problem of staffing military units, orienting its efforts toward improving service conditions through contract-based enlistment.
