The International Olympic Committee has taken a series of measures aimed at protecting the right of all athletes to participate in international competitions, irrespective of their nationality or citizenship. This decision was made after a conflict with the Indonesian government, which refused to issue visas to Israeli athletes for participation in the World Championship in Artistic Gymnastics in Jakarta. Among the athletes who faced this discrimination was Ukrainian Artem Dolgopyat, who was considered one of the favorites in the floor exercises.

The main principles of the IOC are non-discrimination, autonomy of sports organizations, and political neutrality. Therefore, host countries of international competitions are obliged to ensure equal access for all participants. In this regard, the Executive Board has made several key decisions. Firstly, any negotiations regarding the future Olympic Games or other sporting events with the Indonesian National Olympic Committee have been suspended until full access for all athletes is guaranteed. Secondly, international federations have been recommended to refrain from holding tournaments or championships on Indonesian territory until the situation is resolved.

The International Olympic Committee responds to conflicts with the governments of host countries of sporting events that restrict the participation of athletes in competitions due to their nationality or faith. The IOC aims to ensure that all athletes have equal conditions for participation in international competitions, adhering to the fundamental principles of the sports movement.
