Price Increases Predicted for Ukrainian Dairy Products
Maksym Hopka, an analyst with the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB), forecasts that dairy product prices in Ukraine will rise by 6-12% by the end of March 2026. While he does not anticipate a sharp spike in the immediate weeks, increased logistics costs and growing export demand are expected to drive prices upward. This forecast highlights a divergence from global price trends, which have been falling.
In February 2026, the FAO's global dairy price index fell by 1.2% compared to January. Furthermore, the index was nearly 20% lower than its level in February of the previous year. This indicates that despite the projected increase in Ukraine's domestic market, global price dynamics are moving in a different direction.

Therefore, Ukrainian consumers should prepare for higher dairy costs in the near term, a trend that runs counter to the declining prices observed on the international market.
The projected rise in dairy prices in Ukraine by the end of March 2026 can be linked to several factors, including logistics expenses and an increase in exports.

These domestic price pressures are occurring against a backdrop of overall global price decreases, suggesting that local market conditions have unique drivers that do not always align with worldwide trends. For context, the Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH) is the local currency, and these price shifts could impact household grocery budgets. Consumers would be wise to note these forecasts as they may affect food spending in the coming weeks.
