Meeting with the Youth Council at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has met with members of the newly elected third term of the Ministry's Youth Council. The discussion focused on the priorities of youth diplomacy and the key objectives for the incoming council. Minister Sybiha stressed the critical importance of involving young people in both shaping and executing Ukraine's foreign policy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was the first state institution to systematically integrate youth into this process.

The meeting also introduced the new Council Chair, Yan Earl-Ruzhytskyi, and his deputy, Yelyzaveta Kaidash. In his remarks, Andrii Sybiga characterized the discussion as a sincere and substantive conversation about the vision for youth diplomacy. He noted that young people play a vital role in defining Ukraine's place in the world and in bringing that vision to life.

“Strong diplomacy begins with a vision for the future, and today that vision is being shaped together with youth.” - Andrii Sybiha

Core Focus Areas for Youth Diplomacy

The meeting identified several key areas where youth engagement can strengthen Ukrainian diplomacy:

  • Next-generation communications and public diplomacy, utilizing modern formats, creative campaigns, media, and work on Ukraine's narrative and international image.
  • Engaging youth in youth-focused formats at international organizations.
  • Developing sports diplomacy as a platform for international dialogue and building trust between societies.
  • Working with foreign students and youth to shape global perceptions of Ukraine.
  • Fostering youth networks and communities both in Ukraine and abroad as a long-term foreign policy resource.

Through such initiatives, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to pursue more active youth participation in diplomatic processes. This initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize Ukraine's diplomatic toolkit in response to contemporary global challenges. Engaging youth in diplomacy could prove a decisive factor in forming a positive image of Ukraine internationally. It underscores the need for innovative approaches and the active use of modern technologies in diplomatic efforts. In an era of globalization and information challenges, young people can bring fresh ideas and effectively communicate Ukraine's values abroad, which is crucial for strengthening the country's global standing.
