Frosts up to -12 degrees on Christmas
In Ukraine, frosts up to -12 degrees are expected on Christmas, as well as light snow in some regions, particularly in the west, north, and center. In the south and east, no precipitation is forecasted.
On December 23, the temperature in Ukraine will be around zero degrees. In Transcarpathia and Crimea, warmer weather is anticipated by a few degrees. In Kyiv, the temperature on December 23 is also expected to be around zero and with light snow.
Temperature fluctuations on Christmas Eve and Christmas
On Christmas Eve and Christmas, the temperature will drop to -2–9 degrees, and at night, frosts up to -9–12 degrees should be expected. As meteorologist Natalia Didenko noted,
“during the day, it will be close to zero everywhere in Ukraine”. She also added that
“the sun may come with the frost, clearings are possible”.
The expected frosts and snow may affect holiday events and traditions that take place during Christmas. In cold weather, residents may need to adapt their plans, especially paying attention to safety while moving. Meteorologists' forecasts indicate that the weather during the holiday days will remain cold, so it is worth preparing for winter conditions. This can also create a special atmosphere for celebration, typical of winter holidays in Ukraine.
