Ukraine's Maritime Sector Reports 2025 Results
Despite persistent threats and attacks on infrastructure, Ukraine's seaports have maintained a vital role in the national economy. The maritime sector concluded 2025 by handling 82.2 million tons of cargo, exceeding its annual target by a substantial 95%.
The cargo handling plan for 2025 was set at 86.2 million tons. Key cargo categories included:
- Agricultural products, which accounted for 44.2 million tons.
- Container traffic also saw significant growth, with 215,748 TEU processed. This figure represents a 66% increase compared to 2024.

Port operations, however, faced severe disruptions. In the Odesa region, air raid sirens sounded over 800 times, impacting daily activities. As a result, ports lost more than a month of net operational time.
