Negative dynamics of the Moscow Exchange
The Moscow Exchange continues to demonstrate negative dynamics: in 2025, the MOEX index fell by 4.04%, reaching a level of 2766.62 points. This decline marks the second consecutive year, as in 2024, the index decreased by 6.97% and ended the year at 2883.04 points.
The last time a similar two-stage negative series occurred was in 1997-1998, indicating serious problems in the Russian stock market. The main factors contributing to the decline include:
- lack of investments,
- loss of ties with international markets,
- deteriorating economic climate in the Russian Federation.
These circumstances create a challenging situation for investors and raise concerns about the future development of the market.
Structural problems in the economy
Negative trends on the Moscow Exchange indicate deep structural problems in the Russian economy that may have lasting consequences for both domestic and foreign investors. The loss of ties with international markets and the reduction of investments may lead to decreased liquidity and increased volatility in the stock market, which in turn could impact the overall economic development of the country.
