New Changes in Ukraine’s Healthcare System

Starting June 12, 2026, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine has streamlined the process for obtaining e-prescriptions and medical certificates. Allergists and pediatric allergists are now authorized to independently issue e-prescriptions under the “Affordable Medicines” program. Additionally, physicians in emergency departments can generate medical certificates for temporary incapacity to work on the spot, making it easier for patients to access care during critical situations.

Expanded Authority for Medical Professionals

The new rules also broaden the list of specialists who can issue medical certificates for temporary disability. This now includes doctors specializing in nuclear medicine and radiation oncology. This change is expected to significantly improve service for patients requiring cancer treatment and ensure broader access to necessary medical documentation.

These updates aim to boost the efficiency of healthcare delivery in Ukraine and simplify the procedures tied to obtaining medical services.

These innovations could greatly ease access to healthcare for patients, especially in emergencies where every minute counts.

The expansion of doctors’ authority to issue e-prescriptions and medical certificates also reflects the Ministry of Health of Ukraine’s commitment to modernizing the healthcare system, particularly through process digitalization, which in turn will enhance the quality of medical care across the country.
