Ukraine and Germany Forge New Healthcare Partnership
Ukraine's Ministry of Health has announced a strategic partnership with the German organization Life Bridge Ukraine. A memorandum of cooperation in the fields of prosthetics and rehabilitation was signed, with the key outcome being the establishment of a National Center of Excellence for Prosthetics and Orthopedics. This new center will be based at the Ternopil Regional Clinical Psychoneurological Hospital. This initiative is a significant step in rebuilding and modernizing Ukraine's healthcare infrastructure, which has faced immense challenges in recent years.
The memorandum was signed by the head of the Ministry of Health, Viktor Liashko, and the founder of the organization, Janine von Wulffersdorf. This collaboration forms part of the Ministry's flagship project, 'Development of the Rehabilitation Assistance System,' and is being implemented within the framework of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment.
Project Goals and Key Initiatives
The project aims to provide high-tech clinical prosthetics, comprehensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation, and patient support according to the highest international standards and WHO recommendations. Additionally, the project includes a technical training component:
- Training technicians in the practical skills of prosthesis manufacturing.
- Integrating modern clinical knowledge and university-level education into Ukraine's higher education institutions.
A barrier-free environment means being able to complete the rehabilitation journey without obstacles.
