SELF-CARE CHECK Initiative at the Courage Bazaar
On May 9 and 10, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the National Cancer Institute will host a dedicated health space called SELF-CARE CHECK at the Courage Bazaar. This event aims to raise public awareness about cancer prevention through free vaccinations, dermatoscopy exams, and educational talks. Given rising cancer rates, early detection and prevention are more critical than ever for improving treatment outcomes.
Event Program
Vaccination sessions will run from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on both May 9 and 10. Attendees can receive free shots for tetanus and diphtheria, as well as a COVID-19 booster. To get vaccinated, participants must bring a passport or official documents available via the Diia app.
Additionally, dermatoscopy screenings will be offered on May 9 and 10 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, allowing individuals to have their moles quickly and safely examined by specialists.
On May 10, from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM, lectures will take place at the Courage Lecture Hall located in the VDNKh Pavilion Kyt. These sessions will tackle common myths about cancer, including:
- 'Why cancer is not karma but a preventable disease'
- 'HPV and cervical cancer: what everyone needs to know'
- 'Liver health and how cancer prevention works in real life'
This initiative represents a significant step toward improving public knowledge about cancer prevention and expanding access to essential medical services. With cancer statistics on the rise, such efforts can help reduce risks and enable early diagnosis, ultimately leading to better treatment results.
In addition to the free cancer screenings and vaccinations, the importance of early detection cannot be overstated. For those interested in further preventive measures, the recently launched Melanoma Screening Week in Kyiv offers an excellent opportunity to have moles examined and learn more about skin cancer prevention. This initiative complements the efforts at the Courage Bazaar by emphasizing the need for comprehensive health checks.
