Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk suffered an ankle injury during a training session with Tottenham shortly after returning to professional football. According to preliminary forecasts, the 25-year-old player may be out for six to eight weeks. Recently, Mudryk joined Tottenham on loan from Chelsea. This was reported by Football.London.

How long will Mykhailo Mudryk be out due to injury

Mudryk sustained the injury during one of London club's training sessions. The injury is to the ankle, which means the Ukrainian will miss the fourth round of the English Premier League match against Everton on September 12.

Initially, it was expected that the winger would be able to return to training after the international break. However, a significantly less optimistic outlook on the recovery timeline later emerged.

According to insider Fabrizio Romano, Mudryk may remain sidelined for six to eight weeks. A photo of the Ukrainian footballer in a special orthopedic boot also surfaced on social media.

If this prognosis is confirmed, Mudryk could return to the field approximately at the end of October or the beginning of November. The exact timelines will depend on the severity of the ankle injury and the rehabilitation process.

The injury occurred almost immediately after a new stage in the Ukrainian's career. On September 1, he transferred from Chelsea to Tottenham on a one-year loan deal with an option to buy.

Mudryk has only played one official match for his new team. In the third round of the Premier League against Nottingham Forest, he entered the field in the 74th minute, and the match ended in a goalless draw.

This match was the Ukrainian's first official game since November 2024. The long break was related to a doping case. In the spring of 2026, it was reported that Mudryk appealed his four-year ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Thus, after a long absence, the Ukrainian received only 26 minutes of playing time for Tottenham before again finding himself sidelined.

Mudryk may miss Ukraine national team matches

Mudryk's injury poses a problem not only for Tottenham but also for the Ukraine national team. Coach Andrea Maldera is set to announce the squad for the upcoming Nations League matches on September 16.

The national team's assistant coach Taras Stepanenko previously stated that Mudryk could be included in the extended squad. A final decision was expected to be made based on the winger's physical condition and playing form.

Ukraine will compete in League B during the 2026/27 Nations League season. The team's opponents in the group will be Hungary, Georgia, and Northern Ireland. The Ukrainians will play their first match on September 25 against Hungary.

With the anticipated recovery time of six to eight weeks, Mudryk will not be able to play in the national team's September matches. Subsequent meetings may also be uncertain depending on the speed of his recovery.

For the player, this is particularly unfortunate timing, as he only received the opportunity to revive his career after a long break last summer.

It’s worth noting that in August, Inkorr reported that Mudryk's four-year ban in the doping case had been lifted, allowing the player to return to professional football.
