Fragment of Russian 'Iskander-M' Missile Discovered on Kyiv McDonald's Roof

На даху київського ресторану швидкого харчування знайдено частину російської ракети 'Іскандер-М'.

Kyiv Restaurant Roof Struck by Russian Missile Debris

A section of a Russian 'Iskander-M' missile was found on the roof of a McDonald's restaurant in Kyiv. This discovery followed a combined missile and drone assault by the Russian Federation on central Ukrainian regions during the night of February 22, 2026. The 'Iskander-M' is a highly advanced weapon, capable of striking targets up to 500 km away while traveling at speeds exceeding 8,000 km per hour. This incident starkly illustrates how modern warfare brings the front line directly into civilian urban spaces.

The attack involved groups of strike drones targeting the Kyiv region. The city and its suburbs endured at least 12 ballistic missile impacts. A series of powerful explosions rocked the capital around 4:00 AM, causing destruction in several districts. A residential high-rise in the Sviatoshyn district was damaged, and several houses were completely destroyed in the Sofiyivska Borshchahivka area.

Widespread Damage and Civilian Safety

The assault also caused significant damage to the Darnytsia Thermal Power Plant in Kyiv, which had already been damaged in a previous attack on February 3, 2026. The plant is currently undergoing a major restoration phase, including debris clearance and structural damage assessment. The discovery of the missile fragment on a fast-food restaurant's roof underscores the indiscriminate nature and extensive destructive consequences of the ongoing conflict.

This event highlights the persistent threat to civilians in Ukraine, as missile strikes continue to damage critical infrastructure and endanger lives. Amid active hostilities, it is crucial not only for the state to respond to such attacks but also to implement measures to protect the population and mitigate the impact of this aggression.

  • The presence of missile debris in urban areas raises serious concerns about public safety in civilian zones during wartime.
