A 2-year-old boy has been injured in Pokrov, Dnipropetrovsk region, after finding a pneumatic pistol at home. This was reported by medical worker Valentyna Marchenko.
"According to Marchenko, the boy found the weapon in a drawer while his 31-year-old mother was at home. The pellet got lodged in the forehead area. Emergency medical services quickly provided assistance: they treated the wound, applied a bandage, and administered pain relief. After this, the child was taken to Pokrov City Hospital, where a surgeon provided necessary care and then he was transferred to the regional children's clinical hospital in Dnipro."
The boy's condition is currently assessed as moderate. The event could have had much more serious consequences, as the boy could have injured his eye or another vulnerable area. The doctor emphasized that this incident should serve as a reminder for all parents about the need to keep dangerous items out of children's reach. The police are conducting an investigation, after which the question of holding the parents accountable will be resolved.
Brutal murder of schoolchildren in Vinnytsia region
Earlier in Vinnytsia region, a 23-year-old former teacher was detained, suspected of the brutal murder of two schoolchildren. The attacker assaulted students of the 10th and 11th grades as they were on their way to the lyceum.
"According to investigators, the tragedy occurred on the morning of September 10 in Shargorod, Zhmerynka district, Vinnytsia region. The attacker, waiting for the children as they walked to school, suddenly inflicted stabbing and cutting penetrating wounds to the neck area. The children died at the scene due to their injuries. The attacker fled the scene, but police soon apprehended him – it turned out to be a 23-year-old former teacher of the deceased schoolchildren."
As a reminder, on the morning of September 10, in the city of Shargorod, which is in the Zhmerynka district of Vinnytsia region, the bodies of two teenagers with knife wounds were discovered. According to the resolution of the mayor of Shargorod city council, September 10 and 11 have been declared days of mourning in the community.
