A man and three children have disappeared in the Dniester River in Chernivtsi Oblast as of June 24. In the village of Repuzhyntsi, Chernivtsi District, a man born in 1976 and two children born in 2018 vanished. Additionally, in the village of Moshanets, Dnistrovskyi District, a boy born in 2010 went missing. Search operations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, other water-related tragedies have been reported across Ukraine:

  • In Zakarpattia, rescuers recovered the body of a 10-year-old boy from the Tysa River.
  • In Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, the body of a teenager born in 2013 was found in the Dniester River.
  • On June 24, a 15-year-old girl drowned while swimming in a pond in Ternopil.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, 98 people died in water-related incidents last June, including eight children. These figures highlight the dangers of water activities, especially during the summer. The summer season traditionally sees a spike in water accidents, raising public concern.

These statistics underscore the critical need to follow safety rules when near water.

The recent disappearances and tragedies on Ukrainian waterways emphasize how vital it is to adhere to safety guidelines while enjoying time near water. With summer vacations drawing many children and teenagers to aquatic recreation, it is essential to actively educate the public about the risks and necessary precautions. This is especially urgent given the rising number of fatal incidents, urging greater caution from parents and relevant authorities.

The alarming pattern of water-related incidents continues, with recent reports highlighting the tragic drownings of three children in a single day in Ukraine's Rivne region. Such events not only raise concerns about safety measures around water bodies but also emphasize the urgent need for increased awareness and education on water safety.
