Kyiv has added eight more low-floor trolleybuses to its public electric transport fleet. They are the second batch of vehicles purchased for the «Kyivpastrans» and are expected to make rides more accessible for passengers with limited mobility. This was announced by the city mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.
New Trolleybuses in Kyiv Complete a Batch of 16 Vehicles
Eight modern trolleybuses have hit the city's routes. The first eight of these vehicles were received by the capital in June. Thus, Kyiv has completed the acquisition of 16 units of electric transport purchased under the contract between KPI «Kyivpastrans» and LLC «Politekhnoservice».
The mayor's announcement specifically mentions trolleybuses and not buses. These are 12-meter low-floor vehicles designed for regular urban routes. The specific route numbers on which the new transport will operate were not specified in the announcement.
City Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko stated that Kyiv continues to renew its fleet and enhance public transport accessibility. The new vehicles are expected to replace outdated trolleybuses and improve the conditions for daily travel.
Kyiv Trolleybuses Equipped with Ramps, Air Conditioning, and Cameras
Each new trolleybus is equipped with a ramp for passengers in wheelchairs and other groups with limited mobility. This is important not only for people with disabilities but also for passengers with strollers, elderly individuals, and those who have difficulty navigating steps.

The new trolleybuses continue the update of the capital's transport system that began in June. Along with the first eight trolleybuses, five buses, which were the final batch of 85 vehicles purchased under the «Municipal Public Transport of Ukraine» project with the financial support of the European Investment Bank, also hit the routes.
For passengers, the main change lies in a more comfortable and barrier-free transport system. At the same time, the appearance of new vehicles does not imply an automatic increase in the number of trips: this will depend on the distribution of equipment across depots, schedules, and the condition of the contact network on specific routes.
It is worth recalling that on the night of August 5, Russian troops launched a massive combined attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. As a result of the attack, 14 civilians were killed, and 22 people were injured.
